二、報價數字
拍賣師主持拍賣會是離不開數字的。首先，拍賣師應當熟練掌握最基本的1-----100數字的英文表達。其次，要熟悉英文的數字表達法，從後往前，每三位數打一個逗號。還是從前往後面數，第一個逗號讀做thousand；第二個逗號讀做million；第三個逗號讀做billion。所以一般說來，最復雜的情況也無非就是幾百幾十幾個thousand million或billion。

(二)拍賣師英語表達方式的變化
在拍賣中，拍賣師為減少重負，使語言更加豐富、生動，對於同樣的意義，可選擇使用不同的表達方式。如：
（1）要表達「第一號拍品，起拍價為100元」，可以有以下幾種說法：
Lot I, we are starting at ¥100.第一號拍品,我們要以100元起拍.
Lot I, we start at ¥100.第一號拍品,我們以100元起拍.
No.I, we open at ¥100.一號拍品,我們以100元開拍.
（2）如果要問「有人應價嗎?」可以使用以下幾種說法：
Any bid?有人應價嗎?
Who』ll bid for it?誰要為此出價?
（3）如果此時已經有人出價到200元，在等待新的報價出現時，拍賣師可以重復這一價位：
We have ¥200 now.現在有人出價200元。
¥200 appears now.200元出現了。
¥200 now.現在是200元。
¥200 somebody.有人出價200元。
（4）有時為了避免使這種重復顯得過分單調，可以不時採用一些稍長的句子。比如：
¥1.800 over there.那邊有人出價1800元。
¥2,500 in the middle of the room.中間有人出價2500元。
¥9,900 in the back of the room.後面有人出9900元。
¥10,000 in the front of the room. 前面有人出價10000元。
¥12,000 on my left now. 在我左邊有人出價12000元。

（5）如果拍賣師想進一步邀請競買人加價，可以問：
